    The paper deals with the origin thermodynamic model of nodular graphite growth. The model describes the growth of graphite in Fe-C-M systems (where M is alloying element) in liquid and solid phases. The model is based on thermodynamic, diffusion and phase data and for its application is prepared a special software. The application of this model on an eutectic crystallization and cooling of ductile iron is described.
