Selected aspects of the master curve methodology have been investigated experimentally based on data on dynamic fracture toughness. A manganese cast steel has been utilised for experiments the specimens being cut form surface location and midthickness of the thick walled plate. Drop weight tower, standard pre-cracked bend specimens and two procedures - quastistatic and dynamic key curve method were applied for dynamic fracture toughness determination. Pre-cracked Charpy type specimens have been also followed to investigate the statistical size effects. The master curve concept has been found to be fully valid for dynamic fracture data and capable for prediction of standard specimens behaviour from the small specimens.
