In the present paper MC methodology has been used for evaluating of the fracture toughness transition behaviour of the C Mn cast steel intended for fabrication of the large container for spent nuclear fuel. The PCVN specimens and the standard 1T SENB specimens have been used to establish the fracture toughness values in the ductile-to-brittle transition regime. Based on the experimental results obtained the following problems have been addressed: suggestion and verification of transferability approach for transferring the fracture toughness data from the small PCVN specimens to the 1T standard ones; the determination of the reference temperature T0 based on the transformed PCVN fracture toughness data; the construction of MC and fracture probability tolerance bounds utilising the average reference temperature T0 from the transformed PCVN data; the comparison of the toughness KJc values measured with the standard 1T SENB specimens with the toughness values predicted using small PCVN specimens.
