Quantitative fractography and fractal dimension determination of fracture surfaces broken in transition, ductile to brittle, region. NiCr steel was used being in different states of intergranular embritlement obtained by step cooling treatment. For profile measurements and fractal dimension determination vertical sectioning planes perpendicular to main crack plane. Analysis of relationship between fractal dimension and global fracture characteristics.
