    A report of the main results obtained within the last yearof the COST271 action related to the planetary wave effects on the ionosphere is presented. The report is addressed to the time persistence of planetary wave signatures in the ionosphere, their typical time of occurrence, and their typical longitudinal size as most important inputs to COST271 action.
