V příspěvku jsou ukázány možné příčiny neúspěchu 9-letých žáků při řešení úloh zařazených do TIMSS 1995. Jsou uvedeny poznámky k cílům a významu mezinárodních srovnávacích studií.
Paper deals with some reasons of the failure of Czech 9-year-old students in solving some problems involved in TIMSS 1995. Some remarks to the aims of international comparative studies are given.
