Článek se zaměřuje na veřejné lázeňství v 19. století a jeho proměny ve 20. století. Upozorňuje na různorodost typů, jejich vývoj, transformaci a zhodnocení sociálních a kulturních aspektů, které tyto stavební typy zastávaly.

The article traces the architectural development of the type, from the swimming areas and purifying bath spas of the 19th century, to the hall spas and their transformation into the sport-exercise facilities of the 20th century.
