    Synthesis of mesoporous SA (50 wt. % Al2O3)from Na silicate and Al nitrate without use of templates and having a narrow pore-size distribution is reported. The SEM and XRD showed that solid is amorphous. The BET area was 491 m2/g (CBET = 60) and the pore-size distribution from desorption branch was narrow with majority of pore diameters 3-5 nm. The texture of SA was relarively stable and influenced to only minor extent by treatment with boiling water or by calcination at 650?C.
