A concise list of records of keratinophilic fungi mainly isolated from hair (in mammals) together with feathers (in birds) of asymptomatic animals or from their nests is given. Their frequency of occurrence and different ecological aspects of the assotiation of keratinophilic fungi with wild vertebrates are also discussed.
