The DEZA Chemical Plant (Valašské Meziříčí, Czech Republic) is a well-known producer of lower PAHs, black pitch and some other chemicals. These products heavily contaminated the area of the factory as well as its vicinity. Laser Desorption/Ionisation - Time of Flight Mass Spectrometry (LDI-TOF MS) and High Performance Liquid Chromatography - Atmospheric Pressure Chemical Ionisation - Ion Trap Mass Spectrometry (HPLC - APCI - ITMS) were used for the analysis of these compounds. PAHs with molecular weight up to 450 Da were found in soils inside the factory; presence of these compounds in air samples from the factory was also proved.
