    The political changes in 1989 invoked many expectations which were confirmed by the optimistic declarations of the leading political representatives. In the first post-revolution years, citizens were highly interested in political affairs. After several years of voluntary belt tightening Czechs reached a psychological breaking point. Their unwillingness to suffer uncertainty was the major reason behind the change.
