K tomu, aby jednotlivci rozuměli sociálnímu dění a byli schopni v něm jednat, využívají sociální hierarchie a sociální ekvity, formace nerovných a rovných sociálních vztahů, které pořádají jak sociální aktéry, tak sociální předměty. Ze srovnání hierarchií a ekvit vyplývá, že zvláště sociální hierarchie představují svébytnou konstrukční sílu, která dává ráz lidským záležitostem.

To understand a course of social events and act in it the individuals use social hierarchies and social equities, the formations of equal and unequal social relations that organize social actors and social objects as well. From comparison of hierarchies and equities follows: social hierarchies especially are peculiar constructive forces that organize a course of human events.
