Publikace předkládá sociologický pohled na podmínky, v nichž probíhá transformacegenderových vztahů v české společnosti v 90. letech. Zaměřuje se nejen na současné uspořádání pozic mužů a žen ve společnosti, ale zabírá i širší spektrum otázek dlouhodobéhopůsobení kulturních a sociálních mechanismů, které podmiňují charakter možných změn a posunů. V rámci studie je významná i aktuální analýza srovnatelných trendův zemích EU a jejich intervence do českého prostředí.

The publication presents a sociological view of the conditions under whichthe transformation of gender relationships has taken place in the CzechRepublic in the Nineties. It focuses not only on the existing arrangementof the position of men and women in society but covers a wider spectrum of issues pertaining to the long-term affect of cultural and social mechanisms condition the nature of potential changes and developments. The study alsocontains a significant up-to-date analysis of comparable trends in the EUcountries and their intervention into the Czech environment.
