    The nematode Ascarophis ayalai Caballero, 1975, originally inadequately described from Arius liropus (Bristol in Gilbert, 1897) in Nayarit and Sonora, Mexico, is redescribed on the basis of examination of types and new material obtained from the stomach of the Mayan sea catfish Ariopsis assimilis (Guenter, 1864) from the Bay of Chetumal, Quintana Roo, Mexico.
