Future development of society is highly dependent on sustainability of water resources. There is a need for better understanding linkages within the basin-wide hydrological systems involving natural conditions, society, and economics in spite of the fact that a lot of knowledge has accumulated for each of these components. Engineers, scientists, and academics should more collaborate to balance environmental health against human demands.
