The paper summarises the principal ideas of a relatively new method to reconstruct the past climate changes by inversion of the present-day subsurface temperature-depth profiles measured in boreholes. The geothermal method has been accepted as a useful alternative research tool to complete the family of palaeoclimate reconstructions.
