Carbon-fibre reinforced carbon composites, i.e. materials developed for potential use in orthopaedic and dental surgery, were coated with pyrolytic graphite. The surface roughness was adjusted by grinding and polishing with metallographic paper and/or diamond paste. There is a statistically significant correlation of surface roughness parameters with adhesion and proliferation of osteogenic MG-63 cells.
