The same blood pressure rise was demonstrated in young and adult L-NAME treated rats in hich a similar degree of NO synthesis inhibition was disclosed. This suggests that altered NO bioavailability (but not the generally exaggerated reactivity to hypertensive stimuli) is the cause of greater blood pressure response of immature than adult rats to chronic excess salt intake.
