Ornithine carbamoyltransferase purified from the liver of the loggerhead turtle Caretta caretta had a molar mass of 112 kDa with three identical subunits. It catalyzed an ordered sequential mechanisma where carbamoyl phosphate bound first (Michaelis constant 0.22 mM), followed by L-ornithine (Michaelis constant 0. 86 mM).
