The chapter sumarized our knowledge on the possible role of NO in the developing heart. Particular attention was paid to the sources of NO in the cardiac muscle, to the role of NO in cardiomyogenesis, in protection of the immature heart and in the fetal and neonatal pulmonary circulation.
