C6 glioma treated with cisplatin (1.66x 10 5M) ceased dividing by24 h and underwent apoptosis by 72-96 h. The reactive cells wereclassified into 5 types (T-I to V), according to the ultrastructureof nuclei. In T-I cells some nuclear pores were covered with thenovelty structure, the dome-shaped "cap" formed by fine filamentousmaterial. Apoptotic cells (T-IV) apperated in 2 variaties reflectingalternative routes of the cisplatin-triggered apoptosis. Except forthe T-IV and T-V cells, alterations of cytoplasmic organelles, includingmitochondria, were fewer than reported in previous studies on cisplatin.
