In the rat thyroid gland, the biological behaviour of bromine is similarto the behaviour of iodine, and not to that of chlorine as in otherorgans. Because the time course of bromine excretion in adult ratssubstantially differed from iodiene excretion, the half-life values ofbromine in 14 more tissues and organs were determined. They were in therange from 94 + 15 h in the thyroid to 235 + 89 h in the liver, whitethe whole-body value equalled 198 + 22 h.
