Karl Popper popírá tezi, že v poznání postupujeme od pozorování k teorii. Tím chce eliminovat indukci jako modus myšlení. Dostává se však do rozporu s vlastními postuláty tím, že uznává existence vrozených induktivních očekávání, která mají dogmatický charakter.

Karl Popper reject the thesis that learning proceeds from observation to theory. Thus he claims to eliminate induction from epistemology. However, he contradicts his own claims by postulating the existence of inborn inductive expectations that are dogmatic in their nature.
