Kant popisuje v obou dopisech svůj soustředěný zájem o metafyziku a její možnosti a načrtává v nich obsah zamýšleného spisu "Meze smyslovosti a rozumu", který má být k metafyzice předehrou.

In both letters, Kant's fundamental concern is with the possibility of metaphysics, and he conveys there the outlineof his projected work under the title "The Limits of Sensibility and Reason" that is intended as a prelude to metaphysics.
