The absolutely calibrated K-shell spectra emitted from short-living aluminium plasmas at laser intensities ofd 5X10 15 4X10 18 W/cm 2 are reported. The characteristics features of the measured and the post-processed spectra are outlined; the scaling rules for the conversion efficiency of the laser radiation into line x-ray emission are discussed.
