Jedním z důležitých fenoménů v optice je i přenosová funkce zobrazovacích soustav. Její teorie byla vypracována ve 2. třetině 20.století a nyní má své místo v optické metrologii.

In this article the development of evaluation of imaging quality is decribed. Firstly the imaging process was appreciated visually, i.e. subjective by eye comparation with known tests. Some requirements for this are elaborated there. The objective mathematical description of the imaging process was the second step.
