    The x-ray Faraday effect at the L2,3 edges of the 3d ferromagnets Fe, Co, Ni and of Fe0.5Ni0.5 alloy is studied both theoretically and experimentally. We perform ab initio calculations of the x-ray Faraday effect on the basis of the local spin-density approximation.
