It was studied the distribution of 5-methylcytosine along tobacco repeated sequences. It was reported that all repeats have nearly saturation levels of CG methylation while the levels of CCG methylation were variable even within the locus. The results support the view that heterochromatin is highly structuralised in interphase nucleus.
