This paper sets up a model to inquire into whether the rise and fall in barter transactions in Russia and other CIS countries during the 1990´s was an involuntary decision resulting from credit rationing or the consequences of firms´ optimal choice.

Změny v rozsahu využívání výměnného obchodu v Rusku a zemích Společenství nezávislých států v období 1990-200 mohly být důsledkem omezení dostupnosti úvěrových zdrojů (credit rationing) anebo optimální volby v rozhodovacím procesu podniků.
