The photodegradation of a herbicide monuron in different systems producing hydroxyl radicals was investigated employing solar irradiation at a Compound Parabolic Collector (CPC) reactor at Plataforma Solar de Almería. Hydroxyl radicals were photogenerated either by excitation of Fe(III) aquacomplexes or irradiation of TiO2 semiconductor. A positive effect of combination of these two processes has been proved, especially for very low concentrations of TiO2 compatible with the environment.
