Parallel robots, which are suitably controlled, represent way to improve dynamics, stiffness, accuracy and productivity of modern machine tools. The over-actuation means that the robot structure includes more drives than DOF. This paper presents two model-based approaches for such structures: Sliding Mode Control and Generalized Predictive Control. The both use discrete linear state-space model. The paper introduces direct pseudo-discretization based on Taylor series and exact linearization-decomposition.
