The extremely low Zr/Hf ratios of topaz-bearing granites may be a primary signature of evolved granitic melts. The P-rich granites contain zircon only moderately enriched in Hf, the P-low granites have zircon with very high content of hafnium.

Extrémně nízký poměr Zr/Hf v topazových granitech je primárním znakem pokročilé frakcionace granitové taveniny. Fosforem bohaté granity obsahují zirkon mírně obohacený hafniem, kdežto granity s nízkým obsahem fosforu obsahují zirkon s vysokým obsahem hafnia.
