Photoluminescence as a spectroscopic method, used in this paper, seems to be a good tool for the detection of the degradation processes. The photodegradation of PMPSi leads (i) to a decrease in PL and (ii) to a shortwavelength shift of the exciton PL band, which seems to be a consequence of a decrease in the molecular weight of the polymer in the photodestructive process.
