Macrophages are host cells for the pathogenic parasite Leishmania major. Neutrophils die and are ingested by macrophages in the tissues. We investigated the role of macrophage interactions with inflammatory neutrophils in control of L. major infection. Coculture of dead exudate neutrophils exacerbated parasite growth in infected macrophages from susceptible BALB/c, but killed intracellular L. major in resistant B6 and STS mice. We found five basic patterns of pathogen clearance in recombinant congenic strains
Kokultivace mrtvých neutrofilů exsudátu napomáhala růstu parazita v infikovaných makrofázích u citlivých myší BALB/c, ale zabíjela intracelulární L. major v odolných myších B6 a STS. Odhalili jsme pět různých schémat likvidace patogenu v rekombinantních kongenních kmenech
