Since the first experiments of Wilson who used a cloud chamber as a sensitive tool for detecting high energy radiation the condensation on ions found increasing interest. The first theoretical interpretation of ion-induced nucleation stems from Volmer and independently from Frenkel. They modified the classical nucleatin theory by using the electrostatic energy of a charged spherical droplet as an additional therm in the free energy of the nucleus formation.
Ti modifikovali klasickou teorii nukleace, když do vztahu pro volnou energii vznikajícího zárodku přidali člen obsahující elektrostatickou energii nabité kulové kapky.
