Head injuries from blunt impact are a major cause of death. Impact loads on the head, occuring for example when a person is ivolved in a car or sports accident, may cause tissues to deform beyond recoverable limits resulting in injuries. Knowledge of the mechanisms by which all impact loads result in injury is still incomlete.
