Klinické analýzy vždy kladou požadavky na citlivost a selektivitu analytických technik. Nejkritičtější jsou techniky vyžádané pro rychlé určení stavu nemoci a aplikaci vhodné léčby u novorozenců. Toto krátké kritické review udává přehled současného stavu použití hmotnostní spektrometrie a kapilární elektroforézy pro zachycení metabolických poruch u novorozenců
