We have analyzed the influence of altered thyroid hormone levels on changes of MyHC protein isoforms and their mRNA transcripts in the soleus muscle of 2-, 4- and 7-month-old euthyroid (EU), hypothyroid (TH) and hyperthyroid (HY) female inbred Lewis strain rats. We have found that the content of the dominant MyHC1 isoform gradually increased in the EU rats and this increase has been even more progressive in the HY rats at all three stages. Our results thus suggest that in the rat soleus muscles, both increased and decreased levels of thyroid hormones speed up the formation of an adult phenotype which is demonstrated by the precocious appearance of the slow MyHC1 isoform, but a longer T3 application of thyroid hormones promote the expression of the faster MyHC 2a isoform

Analyzovali jsme vliv změněné hladiny tyroidního hormonu na přepis MyHC izoforem proteinu a mRNA v m. soleus u 2, 4 a 7 měsíčních eutyroidních, hypotyroidních a hypertyroidních samičích inbredních potkanů kmene Lewis.
