The introduction of genetically modified microorganisms designed for rhizoremediation induces changes on native bacteria in the rhizosphere but not in the surrounding soil.

The response of native bacterial communities to the introduction of genetically modified microorganisms designed for rhizoremediation has been studied in case of PCB degraders. Changes appeared among native bacteria in the rhizosphere but not in the surrounding soil.
