Sborník je výstupem konference pořádané FHS UK v listopadu 2005, která byla věnována historické antropologii a teoretickým debatám v současné historiografii. Sborník obsahuje úvod, devět studií s komentáři a diskusí, obrazové přílohy a biografické medailony autorů a autorek. Články v první části rozebírají po teoretické stránce koncept historické antropologie, jeho definiční strategie, konceptuální limity a konkrétní operacionalizace především v recentní německojazyčné historiografii. Druhá skupina příspěvků reflektuje další koncepty, které se v posledních desetiletích diskutují v souvislosti s historickými vědami (symbolická sociologie, diskursivní analýza, postkolonialismus atd.).

The volume proceeds a colloquium organized at FHS UK (Faculty of humanities, Charles University) in November 2005 that concerned on the hisotrical anthropology and theoretic debates in recent historiography. The volume contains an introduction, nine papers completed by comments, plates and profiles of authors. In the first section of the volume theoretical problems of historical anthropology are treated, as well as its definitory strategies, conceptual limits and concrete operationalizations, mostly on recent German-speaking historiography. Papers in the second section focus on other conceptual frameworks that have been recently discussed in context of historical sciences (symbolic sociology, discoursive analysis, postcolonila studies etc.)
