Anticonvulsant and neuroprotective effect of (2R,4R)-4-aminopyrrolidine-2,4dicarboxylate, agonist for group II metabotropic glutamate receptors, observed after its pretreatment, was substantialy reduced when given after the onset of seizures induced in immature rats by homocysteic acid. The severity of seizures, decrase of glucose and glycogen, rise of lactate and neuronal damage of hippocampus and thalamus were influenced only partially.
