The early activation antigen CD69 is a leukocyte receptor which is rapidly expressed on the cell surface upon activation. Structurally it belongs to the family of C-type lectins. Although the structure of CD69 has been already solved using X-ray crystallography the role of the calcium in this molecule was not addressed since the recombinant protein used for crystallization lacked the calcium. Thus it is doubtful whether the structure based on X-ray data corresponds to the real native state occurring on the cell surface
Molekula CD69 patří mezi ranně aktivační antigeny leukocytů a je rychle exprimována na povrchu buněk. Strukturně patří tato molekula mezi lektiny typu C. Ačkoliv byla struktura této molekuly vyřešena pomocí rentgenové krystalografie, úloha vápníku v této molekule není zřejmá. Rekombinantní protein, který byl použit ke krystalizaci vápník neobsahoval. Cílem práce bylo ověřit strukturu nativní molekuly CD69 se strukturou řešenou pomocí rentgenové krystalografie
