Here we present molecular analysis of transcription of parental rRNA genes (rDNA) in natural and synthetic allotetraploids. We found a significant correlation between uniparental epigenetic silencing in F1 hybrids and the genetic stability of parental rDNA units during evolution of allopolyploid species.
