Schemagic is an universal tool that is capable of synchronisation of existing database schemas and their transformation into various vendor-specific forms. Emphasis is laid on the openness of the solution, the database platform independence and extensibility. The tool can be easily extended by adding new database objects types. It is also capable of transmitting schemas of supported types without loss of data between RDBMS of the same vendor. During transmission of schemas between two DBMS of different types the tool preserves as much information as possible. The tool warns user in ambiguous situations during the synchronisation process and allows him to make a decision in which way to solve a particular synchronisation problem. The tool helps developers of database applications with the generating of the documentation of the database schema, that is beeing developed. The universality of the tool was successfully used to support synchronisation of MUDR EHR knowledge trees.
