Během kultivace jak třepaných tak statických tekutých kultur S. cerevisiae se mění pH tekutého kultivačního media podobně, jako se mění pH agaru při růstu kvasinkových kolonií. Podobně jako u kolonií i syntéza všech 3 proteinů Ato začíná s počátkem alkalizace media
