Kapitola nazvaná "Laboratorní potkan – anatomické a fyziologické poznámky" je zaměřena na anatomické a fyziologické údaje u potkana a obsahuje popis základních anatomických struktur v těle potkana. Knížka rovněž obsahuje četné zdroje obecných i specifických formací o výzkumu na laboratorních zvířatech, a to především v oblasti experimentálních transplantací. Z tohoto důvodu poskytuje hodnocení vědeckých postupů spojených s transplantacemi různých orgánů u laboratorních zvířat a zkoumá možné alternativy experimentů. Kniha také krátce popisuje zákony a vyhlášky regulující použití experimentálních metod na laboratorních zvířatech.

The chapter entitled "The Laboratory Rat – Anatomical and Physiological Notes" is focused on anatomical and physiological data of the rat and includes describtion of basic anatomical structures in the rat body. The booklet also contains numerous sources of both general and specific information on laboratory animal research, fisrt of all in the filed of experimental transplantation. For this reason, it provides an assessment of the scientific procedures associated with the transplatations of various organs in laboratory animals in research, examines the impact of the resulting research on animals, and explores the alternatives to animal experimentation. The booklet also briefly describes the laws and regulations governing the use of experimental methods in laboratory animals.
