A site-specific glycosylation of salivary glands (SGs) isolated from unfed and partially fed Ixodes ricinus females was identified with the use of lectin affinity labeling on sections and western blots of SDS PAGE gels. Sialic acid occurrence was proved in particular secretory granules of the type III acini.

Polohově specifická glykosylace v buňkách slinných žlaz izolovaných z hladových nebo částečně nasátých samic Ixodes ricinus byla studována pomocí afinitních metod s lektinovými sondami a to technikami elektronové a fluorescenční mikroskopie jakož i westernblotingu. Kyselina sialová byla potvrzena v sekrečních granulích buněk acinů typu III.
