    First experimental approach enabling investigation of the distribution of single Al Atoms and Al-(SiO2) 1,2 pairs in silicon rich zeolites is reported. Co(II) ions serve as a probe of Al pairs. Number and spatial distribution of Co(II) ions, i.e. of Al pairs, is estimated employing Vis Spectroscopy of bare Co(II) ions in dehydrated zeolite. Al atoms are not randomly distributed in ZSM-5 zeolites and their distribution is affected by Si/Al composition and the synthesis procedure.
