V nosník: The plate elements of steel girders subjected to many times repeated loading exhibit a many times repeated loss of stability, usually termed “breathing”. Cumulative damage and fatigue cracks are then generated in the girders, which substantially influence their failure mechanism and limit state.

Stěny ocelových nosníků vystavené mnohonásobně se opakujícímu zatížení mnohonásobně ztrácejí stabilitu, říkáme že "dýchají". Dochází ke kumulaci poškození a vzniku únavových trhlin, které významně ovlivňují mechanismus porušení a mezní stav nosníku.
