    Galectin-4 and galectin-6 found in the mouse are closely related tandem-repeat members of the galectin family. We studied the expression of both galectins in mouse tissues, cell lines and early mouse embryogenesis. To study the role of carbohydrate recognition domains (CRDs) in oligosaccharide binding and epitope recognition, we cloned mouse full-length galectin-4 and galectin-6 cDNA and constructed bacterial expression vectors producing histidine-tagged recombinant galectin-4 and its truncated CRD1 and CRD2 forms. Preparation of these recombinant forms of mouse galectin-4 and its CRD domains allowed us to investigate the oligosaccharide binding profile using Glycan Array analysis of 185 different glycan structures.

    Studovali jsme expresi galektinu-4 a galektinu-6 v myších tkáních a bunečných liniích. Připravili jsme rekombinantní CRD domény galektinu-4 a galektinu-6 s histidinovou kotvou a dále studovali vazbu oligosacharidů na CRD domény galektinu-4 pomocí Glycan array analýzy.
